Berkeley Hall, set along the banks of the Okatie River between Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, and Savannah, Georgia, exists for the sole purpose of providing its members with the very best of everything. Great service, however, begins with great staff who know the membership and their needs. Many of Berkeley Hall’s staff have been here since the club opened. For those who don’t live here full-time, there’s a deep sense of comfort in knowing that on the next visit they will have the same level of quality as the last.

Financially strong, the fairly young club (turned over to the membership in 2005) is coming off its best year for attracting new members. For those interested in joining, there are a limited number (125) of non-property-owner memberships available. You pay the same initiation fee and dues as property owners and enjoy full access to all the facilities, including the golf courses. There is no monthly minimum spending requirement or food minimum with membership.

Although you don’t have to be a golfer to enjoy the active social life and wide range of amenities, great golf is what attracts many here. And you can’t ask for a purer golf experience than a pair of core courses that aren’t encumbered with homes or interior streets. Both the North and South courses are superb tests of golf and showcase the stunning coastal landscape and Fazio’s flair for dramatic designs. With the same attention to detail that infuses everything, the courses are maintained meticulously 12 months a year.

A gated community with 24-hour access, Berkeley Hall is a club that evokes superlatives; even its location is geographically perfect. All of the beach and resort pleasures of Hilton Head are just seven miles away, while Savannah and Beaufort, South Carolina, with excellent hospital and cultural facilities, are each within 30 miles.
